8k19 Carry Go Bring Come – A Scattering Of Ska Toons

Ska is given the Skew-whiff treatment this week.. A handful of classics and a bunch possibly not as familiar to the casual listener – all vintage and all totally wonderful infectious tunes drawn from my modest collection. I’ve leant towards the quirky and the jazzy but there’s still a fair few scorchers in there… I love the cover versions from this era, Take 5, Caravan, James Bond theme, The Magnificent Seven, Roy Budd’s Get Carter theme .. even The Byrds’ “Lear Jet Song” is brilliantly reworked by The Gaylads and retitled “Don’t Try To Reach Me”, a personal favourite.. (originally broadcast on our beloved 8K Radio, 20th Nov 2016, Christchurch, New Zealand/Aotearoa)
